JULY 1 ENTRY: It's the one week countdown! Watch this mural come to life...
We are delighted to be working in our own backyard with the Mayor and City of New Brighton this July to create a 30 foot high mural on their community center with children from the Community Youth Program (CPY) and Edventures, adults with brain injuries and disabilities from RISE organization, and countless volunteers from the community.
JULY 9 UPDATE: What an amazing first day!
Through both rain and shine today it was wonderful to dive in and prepare the initial base layers before all the children and groups arrive next week to join in the creative fun. Thank you so much to the core team for their great work today. More to come!
JULY 21 UPDATE: Coming Together in Inspiration and Perspiration
Young and old from all walks of life we have been joyfully painting side by side this week in 90 plus degree weather. Each day we enter the Beautiful Project Creative Zone where no cell phones are allowed and fully give our hands and hearts to help bring this giant beauty to life. Stay tuned to see the finished piece next week!
The magnificent tree of life has appeared on the mural with her roots celebrating our deep interconnected nature and importance of foundation in the earth while simultaneously ever expanding her/our branches and leaves into new vistas and possibilities.
JULY 26 UPDATE: Beauty in Diversity
So many hands and hearts have come together to bring this giant beauty to life. This past two weeks over 70 adults and 40 children, ranging in ages from 10 years – 75 years of age, have come out to paint on the mural.

JULY 31 - CELEBRATION DAY!
MANY HANDS, MANY HEARTS
Led by Pamela and the Beautiful Project team, over 70 adults and 40 children from the community of all abilities (including adults with autism and brain injuries, staff from city hall, the sanitation and police departments, public works, city council members, children from area youth groups, and long-time community citizens and immigrants alike), ranging in ages from 10 years – 75 years of age came together to create this giant community masterpiece called “The Tree of Life”. Here, her roots remind us of our deeply interconnected nature and need for a strong foundation – while simultaneously branching out her/our ever-expanding arms and hearts to embrace greater vistas and possibilities. Almost the entire painting was painted with brushes no more than 1-inch wide and at over 30 feet tall x 30 feet wide, this is the largest community-created mural of its type in the state of Minnesota. It is a testament to how each of us, regardless of history, experience, age, color or economic background has their own unique and distinct gift, however large or small, that contributes to the whole. May this mural serve as a reminder that when we come together we can create staggering beauty as an offering to our communities and the world.
